One of the questions we get asked a lot is what happens in a medical emergency in Space. All vehicles have the ability and equipment to perform life saving surgery. The equipment is state of the art and fully adapted for use whilst on a mission in Space, however as you can imagine we don’t have much room to store all this equipment on board.
researchers estimate that there will be an average of one surgical emergency every 2.4 years during a Mars mission. The main causes include injury, appendicitis, gallbladder inflammation or cancer.
